Welcome Back Mr.Rourke

The last movie that I saw is entitled The Wrestler. The movie was very good. Compared to the other Oscar nominees it was good but not one of the best. The thing in this movie that was one of the best was the person who played The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke. He was absolutely spectacular. Sean Penn won the Oscar for best actor, but since I have not seen Milk yet I thought that Mickey Rourke should have won. The movie is about a washed up Wrestler who was great in the 80's but is facing problems physically 20 years later. After a heart attack, he decides the days are wrestling are over for him. He then tries to make things better with his daughter. He also wants to become more then friends with his stripper single mom friend. Rourke's character has a great connection with Rourke himself. In the 80's they both were amazing, and there future was looking great for them. Then the Wrestler was getting older, and problems were happening for Rourke. Then the Wrestler wants to keep wrestling, and Rourke wants a comeback. This is Rourke's comeback. He is now being asked to be in bunches of movies. He really proved himself in this movie. This movie also stars Oscar winning Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachael Wood. This movie was a little slow, and it may not be every bodies favorite, but it is a very good film. This movie is rated R for nudity and language. Overall I give this movie 3 popcorn buckets out of a possible 4. Remember, "If you want to find a flick, twothumbsup will help you pick."

good review Jeremy! but I don't agree I loved The Wrestler, didn't think it was slow at all and one thing - how can you say that Mickey Rourke deserved the Oscar of you didn't see Milk. It was a great year for both of them but I saw Milk and the Acadmey got it right- Sean Penn transformed himself into Harvey Milk. It was one of the greatest acting performances I have ever witnessed.
