I rushed to see August as soon as I received it free on Verizon Fios On Demand. August Rush was a heartwarming story about a boy who is looking for his two musical parents who don't even know that he exists. His real name in the movie is Evan Taylor, a boy who has an immense talent in the musical area. With a ensemble like this, it is almost impossible for the movie to not be good. Starring Freddie Highmore, who played the role of August Rush-Evan Taylor; Keri Russell, who played was August's mom Lyla Novacek; Johnathan Rhys Meyers, in the role of August's father Louis Connelly; Terrence Howard, as social worker Richard Jefferies; and last, but certainly not least, the amazing Robin Williams, who played Maxwell "Wizard" Wallace, the person who "discovered" August -- as well as the band of young musical runaways -- that he took into "his home." There isn't a single person out of the entire main cast who did not do a great job. There were a few parts that I enjoyed personally. One of those was when August first started playing the guitar, and he was amazing. I really enjoyed the rhythm of his guitar playing, and I'm sure you would if you see this movie. Also enjoyable was when Evan met "Wizard" for the first time, as well as when they discovered Evan's stage name. Now that made for some good laughs, and some great music. Speaking of the music, this movie had one of the greatest soundtracks there has ever been in a movie that I have seen. Whether people were playing the guitar, the piano, the cello, or listening to jazz, classical, or any other type of music in the movie, it was pleasure to my ears. Every movie isn't perfect, so with that being said, here are some of the cons: The movie was slow going. The good parts of this film didn't start until August met "Wizard," and when the cops came to "Wizard's" hiding place and took most of the kids into custody. It was very sad to see all of those talented kids being abandoned by their own family.
I am giving August Rush 3 Popcorn Buckets, out of a possible 4.

Hey Jeremy--
Loved your review of August Rush. You clearly explained your thoughts on the movie and why you enjoyed it. Just for the record, Randi and I rented it a few months ago and thought it was great. It was a heart-touching, awe-inspiring movie for the both us. I'm so proud of you and your website. If you want any advice or contribution from me, don't hesitate to let me know. I can help you with some things to make it even better. Also, kudos on writing for the school newspaper...I never did that when I was your age, so you're already ahead of me! Much Love...Cousin Mitch
